Pahiyas Festival 2017
The most colorful festival in the Philippines is celebrated in the small town of Lucban in Quezon Province, the Pahiyas Festival. The Pahiyas Festival is an annual event of giving thanks to the town's patron San Isidro Labrador for the bountiful harvest. Every year there is a route called the "Pahiyas Route". This route is where the Grand Parade will take place and the houses on this route are included in the contest of decorating their houses with products and harvests of the farmers. The Pahiyas Festival is one of the most visited festivals in the Philippines. Pahiyas came from the word "Payas" which means decoration or to decor. The said festival gave Lucban the name "The Summer and Art Capital of Quezon" for the Lucbanins showcase of artistry especially during the Pahiyas Festival. For the whole month of May, a lot of activities were done as warm-up for the awaited grandest harvest festival in the Philippines. Activities like Bulihan, Arangya Making, Parikitan, Mutya ng Lucban and a lot of exciting activities. The art of decorating houses during Pahiyas Festival is already a tradition passed from many generations and the decorated houses are the main attraction of the festival. The Pahiyas Festival is celebrated during the 15th of May every year, a little tip: make sure to bring sunscreen, shades, an umbrella, and water especially if you will visit during daytime since it is very hot during these days of the year. For those of you who aren't a fan of walking beneath the heat of the sun, don't worry since the houses are made to be seen not only in broad daylight but also during night time. Once the sun starts to set, the houses start to become like the skyline of New York or Los Angeles for the twinkling lights of the houses. So it's your choice to visit during the day, the night or both, the Pahiyas Festival is a picturesque event worth seeing anytime of day. Every visit in Lucban isn't complete without trying the Kiping, Lucban longganisa and Pansit Habhab to satisfy your tastebuds and get a taste of Lucban you will never forget. In the end, this one of a kind festival is an experience of a lifetime, from the cheerful smiles of Lucbanins to the intricately decorated Houses, this festival will make you come back to Lucban. The Pahiyas will surely make your summer colorful and your Instagram feed more vibrant.

Some of the intricately and beautifully decorated houses in Lucban. Houses are adorned with different crops, fruits and vegetables. No Pahiyas house is complete without an Arangya or a chandelier made out of Kiping. The Parikitan is an annual contest wherein you need to design and create a Filipiniana and Barong ensemble complete with accessories like headdresses, earrings, necklaces and props like scepters and umbrellas all out of native materials |

Mutya ng Lucban 2nd Runner Up - Paula Salumbides MY PAHIYAS 2K17 I very much enjoyed this Pahiyas more than last year since I was able to see the houses at night this year unlike last year. Of course, Pahiyas would be more fun with friends and it made my experience unforgettable. Roaming the streets during Pahiyas is already a tradition, not only of mine but also of a lot of Lucbanins. As to what I saw, this Pahiyas has got to be the most beautiful I ever saw, in my opinion. Every street is alive and painted with bright colors and shimmering lights. My Pahiyas experience wouldn't be complete without photos of me being a "tourist" even though I live in Lucban (Proud Lucbanin here!) Check these photos! ![]() This is actually the first variation of my OOTD. Every Pahiyas OOTD has got to be posed in front of something "Pahiyas" related right? ![]() This is the second variation of the outfit and this was the "night look" ;)) The only thing that changed is that I had my hair in braids in this look and have the bandanna on my forehead as a neckerchief. ![]() ![]() Story time ;)) when I was a child I really wanted this spinning light toy or whatever this is called. Back then I was afraid to ask my mom to buy it for me but now I got to experience playing with it :)) DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!! ;) - WELL, THAT SUMS UP MY PAHIYAS EXPERIENCE, WHAT'S YOURS - *All the pictures are taken by me and the pictures that I am in are taken by my cousin :))
